Studying

PAKETH brings noticeable changes to the everyday student life. The sub-project Studying informs current students and prospective students about the key changes, supports students with various information and advisory services, and coordinates the implementation of the Onboarding Week for new Bachelor's and Master's students.

This website provides general information and the current status of the individual work streams of the sub-project ‘Studying’.

Specific information on information events for students can be found at PAKETH for students website.

A look back at the path that PAKETH has already travelled:

Rector Günther Dissertori and members of the PAKETH core team invited bachelor’s students to attend the first general information event, which was held online in German on November 5. During the event, participants received an overview of the most important changes and had the opportunity to ask questions.

For master’s students, there will be a separate Town Hall in 2026, which will then be held in English.

The video recording of the Town Hall with English subtitles is available now.

Representatives from numerous student associations and VSETH gained insight into the planning of the onboarding week and shared their concerns and wishes.

In October, a meeting was held to discuss the coordination of student communication within the ‘Studium’ section of the ETH main website. Content and processes were discussed with various departments of the Rectorate in order to ensure consistent communication.

The second newsletter informed all Bachelor’s students about the first general information session on PAKETH, the future of myStudies, and how students could actively contribute to the topic of workload planning.

The interdisciplinary task force focused intensively on key elements relevant to all newly enrolled students. The group discussed possible formats for delivering content.

Prospective students will be informed about PAKETH for the first time during the 2025 Student Orientation Days as part of the general presentation “Studying at ETH Zurich – what you need to know.” The degree programs are welcome to include additional information about the new academic calendar in their presentations.

Templates are available on external page SharePoint. Degree programs are advised to use these templates.

As part of the Rectorate's orientation event on 17 June 2025, TP Studies introduced the degree programme-specific web templates. As soon as the degree programmes have defined their curriculum, they can contact to transfer their content.

For the student orientation days, there was a centrally organised briefing for the involved students. The first online briefing took place online on 12 June 2025 at 17:00. The briefing was recorded and made available to the study programmes.

The kick-off of the Onboarding Week task force took place on 6 June 2025. Participants came from various degree programs, ID , the Library, UTL , StS , AkD , 皇冠体育,皇冠体育app Services, and the Rector’s Staff. They worked on initial concepts of the core elements.

If you are interested in actively participating in the Onbaording Week task force, please send a message to:

The main onboarding events (Prestudy Events and Check in ETH) and the student orientation days will be continuously extended to include content on PAKETH - in particular on the changes to the academic calendar.

The first PAKETH newsletter for all Bachelor's students with a link to the new website for students has been successfully published.

Master's students are not addressed in this newsletter as they are expected to have completed their studies by the 2027 autumn semester.

The communication concept for students and prospective students has been finalised and made available on SharePoint.

The consultation period for submissions on the concept adjustment has expired and the results have been summarised in a protected page report.

The decisions of the PAKETH steering group on the open implementation decisions were communicated to the Stuko on 6 March 2025.

The Rector has definitively approved the introduction of the Onboarding Week in the 2027 autumn semester. The detailed concept phase will start in June 2025.

General status of PAKETH

21 January 2026

The introduction of PAKETH and the Digital 皇冠体育,皇冠体育app is being postponed: For PAKETH, this means changes to the schedule until the currently valid introduction date of the autumn semester of 2028.

Picture-Timeline-PAKETH_HS28

In the article of Internal News, Rector Prof. Günther Dissertori explains the reasons for postponing the introduction. He also discusses the reasons behind the decision to give PAKETH, Digital 皇冠体育,皇冠体育app and all those involved more time to ensure quality and security during implementation.

The timetables for Digital 皇冠体育,皇冠体育app and the PAKETH sub-projects are currently undergoing a thorough review. The programme regulations already provide clarity regarding the new timings:

  • The programme regulations, including all appendices, will be adopted at the latest at the first department conference (DK) of the 2026 autumn semester (see illustration above).
  • This also includes the appendix equivalence table, which provides a summary of the transition.
  • A detailed version of the equivalence table only needs to be available in December 2026 – this is used for the automated transfer from the old to the new system.

Communication to students: The communication concept, including schedules, is currently being revised. The website for students has been updated.

  • Newsletter sent to students: Thursday, 22 January 2026, in the afternoon.

We will provide further information on the implications of the postponed launch date for Digital 皇冠体育,皇冠体育app and PAKETH in the February edition of the PAKETH newsletter.

Submit Innovedum PAKETH project proposals by 2 March: The timing for funding contributions for innovative pilot projects in teaching remains unchanged. With an Innovedum teaching project PAKETH Edition, you can pilot innovative solutions within degree programmes that are adapted in the context of PAKETH.

The adjusted schedules for Digital 皇冠体育,皇冠体育app and PAKETH may now give you an opportunity to develop an innovative idea into a pilot project in your degree programme.
