R is a powerful, single open source software and environment to statistical computing. This basic introduction to R focuses on the technical aspects of data organisation, handling, analysis and presentation. The course is aimed at users who do not know R or have just started working with it (we are going to start from the beginning).
Participants will be able to use R to perform statistical analyses with their own data sets – based on the script examples and help options introduced during the course.

The course is a mixture between presentations, on-screen demonstrations and short exercises (“learning by doing”). Topics covered include

  • organisation of the work space and environment
  • reading and writing data files
  • manipulating data frames
  • summarising data
  • programming basic routines
  • drawing standard graphs
If you have not yet installed R and RStudio (the IDE we are going to use in the course) on your device, please download both software programs from the provided link below.
