IT services for professors
The IT Services department supports teaching, research, and administration by providing services in the field of information and communication technology.
First steps
- The password requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) (login required).
- The teaching application eDoz supports lecturers with administrative tasks related to academic support processes.
IT contacts in the departments
Each department has an IT support group (ISG) with an IT support manager (ISL). They are responsible for workplace and IT matters.
First point of contact for IT issues
The ITS Customer Experience and Solutions section offers customized user support and IT workplace management. It is the first point of contact for all IT issues – from workplace systems and user administration to counselling on hosting and data management to connecting cloud services.
The ITS Service Groups (ISG) provide counselling and support throughout the entire life cycle of hardware and software and, if necessary, forward your request to the relevant specialist group.
Other services include: operation of the Service Desk, client engineering (Windows, macOS, and Linux), operation of multifunction printers at ETH, and management of the central computer workrooms.
The Educational IT Services section offers ...
- a tailored portfolio of tools, services, and support for enhancing teaching and learning. The comprehensive portfolio provides lecturers and students with resources spanning the entire spectrum of higher education pedagogy, from learning objectives to learning activities, teaching, examinations, and finally evaluations.
- The tools in the portfolio are integrated into eDoz (lecturer portal) and myStudies (student portal) as well as into the electronic Course Catalogue, the digital semester apparatus and the administrative processes and tools within ETH’s teaching, examination and evaluation domain.
Enabling research
The Scientific IT Services (SIS) section enables modern research by providing first-class scientific computing services.

- Offer subscription models for expert services, participation model for computing resources, and consulting projects
- Support subcontractors in third-party-funded research projects involving at least one ETH group
The Procurement & Compliance group ...
- provides counselling on procurement options;
- supports you in the areas of IT procurement and compliance, contract and supplier management in the area of IT goods and services;
- provides information on existing procurement and framework agreements and supports you in placing orders within the scope of these agreements.
The Cloud Service Centre ...
- supports you in planning and providing cloud services and monitoring their use;
- helps you define necessary guidelines and implement relevant technical interfaces;
- coordinates decision-making processes regarding the secure and economical use of cloud-based IT services.
The Cyber and Information Security section ...
- manages information security across ETH Zurich, acts as a central hub for security issues and proactively protects ETH Zurich's IT landscape against cyber attacks;
- is responsible for ETH Zurich's Information Security Management System, information security strategy, guidelines and regulations.
- prepares ETH-wide reporting and plans and implements security awareness campaigns;
- it focuses on the systematic identification, assessment and reduction of security risks in IT infrastructure and applications. This includes continuous security monitoring, technical security audits and the use of modern technologies for proactive defence against cyber threats;
- handles cyber attacks at ETH Zurich, coordinates incident response, analyses security incidents, supports the containment of attacks, ensures communication and works closely with internal departments and external partners.
